Roku, NBCUniversal set to announce deal for Peacock, NBC apps carriage
(updated)

- Roku (NASDAQ:ROKU) and NBCUniversal (NASDAQ:CMCSA) are set to end a
dispute over channel carriage with a pact that will bring streaming
service
Peacock to Roku's platform.
- A source close to the agreement tells Seeking Alpha that a deal is
close to final that includes all of NBC's apps - including the TV
Everywhere channels that Comcast was readying to pull from Roku's service
- as well as Peacock.
- An official announcement is expected in the next few days, according
to the source.
- The two companies exchanged volleys over the dispute earlier. Peacock
went to launch without support on Roku or on Amazon.com's platform.
- *Updated 5:06 p.m.:* Roku shares are up 0.6% after hours.
- *Updated 6:19 p.m.:* "We are pleased to have reached an agreement with
Comcast that will bring Peacock to Roku customers and maintains access to
NBCU's TV Everywhere apps," a Roku spokesperson says. "We look forward to
offering these new options to consumers under an expanded, mutually
beneficial relationship between our companies that includes adding NBC
content to The Roku Channel and a meaningful partnership around
advertising." Roku is now up 2.9% after hours; CMCSAup 0.4%.
- *Updated 6:28 p.m.:* NBCUniversal releases a statement: "We are
pleased Roku recognizes the value in making NBCUniversal's incredible
family of apps and programming, including Peacock, available to all of
their users across the country. More than 15M people signed up for
Peacock
since its national launch in July and we are thrilled millions more will
now be able to access and enjoy Peacock along with other NBCUniversal
apps
on their favorite Roku devices. Roku's incredible reach will not only
help
us ensure Peacock is available to our fans wherever they consume video
but
continue to expand NBCUniversal's unrivaled digital presence across
platforms."
